The start of this trail is located 12 kilometers south of Caleta Gonzalo and 46 kilometers north of Chaitén. It climbs through an alerce forest that was once burned and is recuperating. You start by walking up a series of stairs until you reach the hanging bridge at the waterfall of the Tronador River. From there you can continue on for another hour and a half until you get to an amphitheater lake where camping is allowed.
