Parque Pumalín

Ventisquero El Amarillo

From the Ventisquero Campground, you can take a 10 kilometers hike toward the base of the Michinmahuida Glacier. The walk is very flat and open; we recommend that you begin the hike early in the morning. You must cross the river at its widest point, not far from the campground. Take care during river crossings, remembering that the more braided sections tend to be shallower and that the river may rise during the day as sun melts snow. Continue up the valley on the west side of the river until you reach the glaciers.

Starting place: Camping Ventisquero, Pumalín Sur.
Duration: 3 hours to get there and 3 hours to get back.
Distance: 20 km round trip.
Return: Same route.
Difficulty: Low-Medium.
