Pumalín Park

How to Get There

Park Access

The Pumalín Park Project is open to the public year round and there is no entrance fee. You can reach Pumalín by car, boat, bike or public transit, from the north or south. To plan your visit, first choose the area of the park you'd like to see, and then figure out the best way to arrive.

Pumalín North is open all year and is the easiest area to reach from the north, but has no infrastructure. You can drive to Hornopirén on the Carretera Austral, 110km south of Puerto Montt. From here you can take the ferry to Caleta Gonzalo, which requieres previous reservation, or rent a boat to take you south down the Comau fjord. (Check below for more details)

The area with the most public infrastructure is Caleta Gonzalo (PumalinWest), distant 4.5 hours from Hornopirén and 60 kms north of Chaitén. You can drive here from the south (Pumalín South), either arriving in Chaitén by ferry from Puerto Montt or by road from the east (Futaleufú) or the south (Coyhaique, etc).
